Concert
- In the spring of 2003, the Lewisville High School Band was selected
by the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival to bring three bands and
percussion to the festival. This is the first time any school
has been represented with more than two bands at the festival.

- The spring trip was to Washington, DC for
the National Adjudicators Invitational

won their respective classes, with the Wind
Symphony winning most outstanding band of the weekend.

- The band's enrollment hit 300
- Lewisville HS had a big celebration for
it's 100 years of existence
- The old Milliken Middle School became the
LHS 9th grade center
- There were 5 concert bands
- The marching band earned I's at
UIL Region and the show was Mussorgsky's
"Pictures at an Exhibition"
- The band won the
DeSoto Marching Contest
- The Wind Symphony presented a featured
concert at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in
December of 1997 in Chicago, IL
- The concert bands all received I's at
UIL in the spring
- All bands except for the Wind Symphony
went to South Coast in April
- Each of these bands received I's and
won
their respective classes

Marching band received a I at
UIL Region and the show was Appalachian Spring
the music of Aaron Copland
- The band placed 3rd in the
UIL area contest. During that time only two
bands advanced to state unless the area contest had 20 or more - we had 19
that year.
- The band placed 11th
in the Denton BOA regional, making a BOA finals
for the first time ever. There was a 3-way tie for 10th so 12 bands
went to finals this year.
- The drumline and colorguard began to be
more competitive
- There were four concert bands, and three
went to UIL
- The top two received I's and the third
band received a I on stage and a II in sightreading
- The Wind Symphony was chosen to present a
concert at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in
Chicago, IL in December of 97.
- The spring trip was to Corpus Christi for
the South Coast Festival.
- All bands earned I's and the Wind Symphony
was chosen as most outstanding band for the weekend.

- Both the Wind Symphony and the Symphonic
Band earned I's at UIL
- The Wind Symphony was a participant in the
BOA National Concert Band Festival in Chicago,
IL and received critical acclaim from a panel of nationally prominent
college band directors.
- The LHS bands rented the Meyerson Symphony
center and presented a concert featuring three of their concert bands in
performance. Also featured on that concert were members of the Baylor
University faculty.

UIL Region and the show was a collection of
western music including John Williams' the Cowboys, Shenandoah, and
Silverado/Magnificent 7.
- The band placed 11th
at the Area Marching Contest in HEB
- The band went to BOA
for the first time and placed 14th in the San
Antonio Regional
- There were three concert bands, and the
top two went to UIL.
- Both the Wind Symphony and the Symphonic
Band received all I's at UIL
- The spring trip was to Corpus Christi for
the South Coast Music Festival and both Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band
earned all I's and runner up in their respective classes.

Contest.
- The band took a spring trip to Winter
Park, CO.

Universiy Interscholastic League
is
the governing agency in Texas which regulate the amount of hours each
Band member may rehearse. Each year in the fall we participate in
the UIL Marching Competition. In 2002, Lewisville High School Band
advanced to the State level for the first time.
B ands
of America is the premier Marching Band Competition. Bands of
America competitions are held throughout the country. Regional
competitions are held in many states each year with a Grand National
event held in Indiana.
